Shelter design
EADS shelter systems are highly mobile, extremely adaptable and rugged – enabling them to be deployed for a wide variety of medical, command post and logistics uses.
The shelters’ primary application is in TransHospital® emergency care facilities, which are used in regions of conflict, at disaster sites and aboard ships.

Hardwall shelters and softwall units are the building-block modules for TransHospital.

TransHospital is an adaptable system created with building-block modules based on ISO hardwall containers, inflatable softwall units and hybrid modules. These versatile components are designed for easy movement by truck, air, rail and sea. They are rapidly assembled, and are interconnected via passageways with air-tight/water-tight seals.
All TransHospital modules are conceived for operation in a full range of climatic conditions, from hot and dry desert areas to humid tropical zones and extremely cold environments. They provide a sterile environment for medical operations, and also offer protection from potential biological, chemical or chemical contamination.
TransHospital’s core element is the 8 ft. X 8 ft. X 20 ft. ISO container. These containers are equipped with pre-integrated medical equipment, and are quickly prepared on-site, using built-in mountings for shelves, equipment and hardware. They incorporate all elements required for electrical power and distribution, lighting, electrical grounding, air conditioning, and water entry/discharge for medical operations. Their size can be enlarged using expandable sidewalls, providing additional working area for medical teams within the shelter unit.
The TransHospital's softwall units serve as support wards and patient care areas. As with the ISO containers, they are easily transportable and designed for rapid setup.
A hybrid TransHospital shelter element is the pallet-sized Tentainer®, which has been designed for uses such as a front-line first aid station, a medical care system for special operations units, a battalion rescue facility and mobile command post. Its compact size allows the Tentainer to be carried by helicopter, air-dropped from a fixed-wing aircraft, or towed as a trailer.
