A TransHospital® rescue station contributed to the U.S. Gulf Coast relief efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.  During its month-long deployment in Long Beach, Mississippi, the non-profit International Medical Alliance handled more than 3,000 patients in the TransHospital's fully-equipped operating room. TransHospital’s mobility was demonstrated during its 2005 deployment to the United States for Gulf Coast relief efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  After being airlifted to the U.S., the rescue station initially was set up in Jackson, Mississippi, and then was transferred within the state to Long Beach. TransHospital’s hardwall ISO container is designed for easy transport by road, rail, sea and air.  The unit has expandable sidewalls to increase the useful interior working volume.  When functioning as an operating room, the TransHospital accommodates two surgical teams and their equipment. TransHospital deployments include this German Army combat support hospital in Afghanistan. More than 500 TransHospital shelter units delivered to date, and are in the inventories of the German Army, Air Force and Navy; the Spanish Air Force; Singapore Navy; United Arab Emirates Army, and Slovenian Army. This complete TransHospital German Army hospital unit – which included full surgical capabilities and the capacity for 350 beds – was set up in approximately 72 hours.  It is composed of 8 ft. X 8 ft. X 20 ft. hardwall ISO containers and softwall units that are designed for rapid mobility. (2.5MB)
