International medical magazine highlights TransHospital’s capabilities for the U.S. Army

January 7, 2008

Medical Corps International magazine is an international publication for military and public emergency medicine.

EADS’ TransHospital mobile hospital system has been featured in Medical Corps International (MCI), a magazine that covers military and civil medical services, international aid organizations, and relevant commercial companies and manufacturers around the world.

The story explains the U.S. Army’s search for a new medical hospital that responds to “lessons learned” from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus the potential for a major terrorist attack on the United States – and underscores how TransHospital meets these demanding mission requirements.

Key features of TransHospital, including its rapid deployment and ability to expand from a first-response rescue station to a large-scale mobile field hospital, were detailed in the MCI article.

TransHospital is being considered in the U.S. Army’s Future Medical Shelter System (FMSS) program, with new field tests planned for 2008.  According to the MCI story, the FMSS directly supports three of the Army’s core mission competencies: forcible entry operations, sustained land dominance, and the support of civil authorities.

The MCI article was written by Jeffrey Lenorovitz, a Washington, D.C.-based writer with extensive experience in covering international military services.  His assignments have included Desert Shield and the Desert Storm Persian Gulf War, and deployments with NATO forces during the humanitarian airlift to Sarajevo.
