TransHospital trauma module integrates telemedicine technology for improved remote medical aid

March 24, 2008

The TransHospital emergency response module for first-responder medical aid is equipped with state-of-the-art telemedicine components.

The capabilities of EADS’ TransHospital® product portfolio have been expanded with a new mobile trauma shelter designed to provide high-level autonomous trauma care for injured patients in remote locations.

This air conditioned facility’s level of medical treatment is further improved with state-of-the-art telemedicine equipment, which – for the first time in emergency medical aid – allows on-scene physicians and medics to receive medical expertise from specialists at a distant location.

As a result, the TransHospital trauma shelter enables even less-experienced medics and aid personnel to carry out life-saving procedures in remote areas with little or no medical infrastructure.  Such capabilities can significantly improve life-saving efforts and patient treatment during crisis and disaster situations.

EADS’ years of expertise in mobile and modular hospital systems were used for the trauma shelter’s design and development, which was supplemented by the powerful telemedicine component from Karl Storz GmbH & Co.
